Lampasas-area law enforcement confirmed that a shooting on Cameron Drive Thursday morning ended with the death of the shooter. Officials on the scene confirmed the shooter as former Lampasas sheriff Gordon Earl Morris. Lampasas Police Department Patrol Lt. Chuck Montgomery said at 10:41 a.m.

TAX, BUDGET HEARINGS Several entities have yet to finalize their property tax rates and budgets for the new fiscal year. Lampasas County officials will offer a public hearing on the new budget and tax rate Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the county annex building, 409 S. Pecan St. in Lampasas.

A heat advisory has been issued for Lampasas County for the next two days.  At 1:18 a.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory, effective from noon Tuesday to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Heat values of up to 109 degrees are expected.

Scout troops to host ‘Mom Prom’
