Commissioners agree to continue indigent defense position

With few action items on the table, the Lampasas County Commissioners Court kept it short in Tuesday’s regular meeting.

LCHEC no longer in operation

The Lampasas County Higher Education Center has dissolved officially and no longer is active.According to former LCHEC Director Derrick Berrios, who left his position in September 2025, the facility closed in April due to funding issues.

Public meetings set to discuss plan for Post Oak Ridge State Park

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will host a second round of public meetings, this time in Waco and Burnet, to gather feedback on the Public Use Plan for Post Oak Ridge State Park.

OUTDOOR BURNING MAY CONTINUE County Judge Randy Hoyer has agreed to the continued lifting of the countywide burn ban. Outdoor burning will be allowed until June 22 at 5 p.m.The county judge is authorized to determine whether conditions no longer exist to prohibit burning.

Sheep, goat specialist to hold parasite workshop

A June 5 program on “Managing Internal Parasites in Sheep & Goats” will be held at 1 p.m. in the Lampasas County annex conference room, 409 S. Pecan St.Cost for the program is $30. Jake Thorne, assistant professor and Extension sheep and goat specialist, will be the featured speaker.
