Hundreds gather at Brook Park to view total solar eclipse

The total solar eclipse that swept through Lampasas this week brought hundreds of people into town to take part of the event. Many of them gathered in W.M. Brook Park to experience the eclipse and longer period of totality.

The annual Painted Chair fundraiser auction at Lampasas Public Library will be held April 27 in honor of a late community member.The fundraiser, held each of the three years previously, has been renamed the Katherine Mezger Painted Chair Event to honor a former member of the Library Advisory Board.

Now that the long-anticipated total eclipse event of 2024 is over, the Lampasas County Museum is moving on to new exhibits.An exhibit sponsored by the East Lampasas Conservatorship will be set up next, museum officials have reported.

A group of more than 50 Lampasas County residents listened to NASA’s Dr.Natchimuthuk “Nat” Gopalswamy discuss how the sun’s corona affects us on Earth through solar weather.Gopalswamy was at the Lampasas Public Library Friday for the presentation.
