Twins rule at Kline Whitis Elementary

It’s rare to find a set of twins, much less four in one grade level – which is the case for Kline Whitis Elementary School.This school year, the elementary campus has four sets of twins in second grade, one set in fifth grade and another pair in pre-kindergarten.

Lometa Community Theater shines in successful opening

Anew theater group in Lometa has taken center stage, with a production of “Superhero Sanitarium” by Scott Haan. The show, directed by Jennifer Wisian, is the inaugural production for the Lometa Community Theater and was sold out before the performance last Saturday.

MORE women’s event in October to feature Tracy Irvin

The non-denominational women’s ministry event MORE is scheduled this year for Oct. 7 from 6:30-7:45 p.m. at The Adelphia.Guest speaker will be Tracy Irvin. The annual get-together offers a time of fellowship and refreshment for women from all across the county.Casual dress is encouraged.

GriefShare sessions to begin Aug. 27

A new session of GriefShare, a weekly support group for those who have suffered the death of a loved one, will begin Aug. 27 and extend through Nov. 19.The sessions are held on Tuesdays from 5:307:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church’s fellowship hall, 402 S. Key Ave.

Bull riding event aims to create suicide awareness education

Three years ago, Kaytarina Castillo’s husband committed suicide.She’s not alone in having to deal with that issue. Many people have lost a friend or family member to suicide. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, between 2000 and 2020 the suicide rate in the U.S. rose by 46%.
