County judge urges residents to get COVID-19 vaccinations

With the increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19, as a result of the Delta variant, County Judge Randy Hoyer this week encouraged all Lampasas County residents to get vaccinated.
The judge added that he received a two-shot dose of the Moderna vaccine in April.

AdventHealth to Host Blood Drive Thursday

AdventHealth Rollins Brook will host a blood drive for Carter BloodCare on Thursday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Donations will be collected in a Carter BloodCare bus located in front of the hospital.
All donors will receive a BOGO Texas Rangers ticket voucher.

Monroe elected Lampasas mayor

Lampasas voters elected TJ Monroe as mayor on Saturday, and Kempner City Councilman John Wilkerson unseated mayoral incumbent Keith Harvey.
Those were just two of the contests in Saturday’s municipal elections.

The Lampasas Police Department, on its Facebook page, reported a "major structure fire" Friday at Young's BBQ & More.
The restaurant is at the corner of E.E. Ohnmeiss Drive and U.S. Highway 281 South.
The business, which recently was featured on TheDaytripper.com, formerly was located in San Saba.

During his Lampasas County Commissioners Court update Monday about the new county law enforcement center, Sheriff Jess Ramos said his department needs more manpower.
Ramos said with more space at the new jail, more detention officers are needed.
