Commissioners court removes fireworks from county burn ban

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court met Monday and voted 3-1 to remove fireworks from the county’s burn ban. The change means that if a ban is in effect, fireworks and fireworks shows would be permissible in Lampasas County.

Burn ban lifted through Thursday

Lampasas County Judge Randy Hoyer on Monday lifted the county’s burn ban through 6 p.m. Oct. 20. The Lampasas County Commissioners Court may consider whether to reissue an order banning outdoor burning when it convenes on Oct. 24.

Beto visits Lampasas

Beto O’Rourke, Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Texas, was in Lampasas Thursday as part of his 49-day “Drive for Texas” campaign. The event took place at the former middle school cafeteria on Western Street, with both Democrat and Republican voters in attendance, approximately 285 in total.

Road closure on West Avenue C

The City of Lampasas Public Works Department announced one city street closure Tuesday morning. Through the city's news flash, the department is asking drivers to avoid West Ave C today as the "road will be closed to allow for repairs.

County to lift burn ban through Wednesday

Lampasas County Judge Randy Hoyer is temporarily lifting the current burn ban, effective immediately.  The burn ban was put in place back in April, due to drought concerns, as wildfires had begun spreading in different areas of Texas.

Operation Longhorn Round Table to be held Saturday

There will be an Operation Longhorn Round Table  from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, at the Lampasas County museum. Operation Longhorn was an 18-day military training exercise in the 1950s.  This exercise featured over 100,000 troops sent to “restore order” in town.

Anglers across Texas are marking their calendars and packing their tackle boxes for Free Fishing Day June 4. Each year on the first Saturday in June, Texans can fish on any public waterbody in the state without a fishing license.

CTC to open College for Kids classes in Lampasas

Central Texas College (CTC) will host a series of classes aimed at youngsters age five and older through its College for Kids program. CTC has expanded its course schedule from last summer and has also teamed with the Lampasas County Higher Education Center (LCHEC) to offer more classes.
