Mr. Sanguinet

William Meredith “Bill” Sanguinet III died on Jan. 27, 2022 at AdventHealth Central Texas in Killeen at the age of 82.

Funeral services will be Feb. 1 at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m., with interment to follow at Naruna Cemetery in Burnet County.

Bill was born July 20, 1939 to William M. Sanguinet Jr. and Dorothy “Dott” Imogene Toal Sanguinet in Dallas. He grew up in Dallas, Fort Worth and Rendon. Then in 1964, at the age of 25, he moved to Iredell.

He was a bachelor until 1972, when he met Janet DeWeese, who had been hired in Iredell as “the new school marm.” Five months later the two were married at the Methodist church on Dec. 23, 1972.

Bill and Janet resided in Iredell until March 1977 and then moved to Stephenville. In September 1983, they purchased acreage on the Flying S Ranch in Lampasas, where they have remained for the last 38 years.

After a heart attack in January 1994, Bill was advised to quit his trade of plumbing, pipefitting and welding. He and Janet decided to open a recycling center in Lampasas. In 1997, they sold it.

Bill taught his children a strong work ethic and enjoyed bragging about his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed being outdoors, riding horses and being a volunteer firefighter. He joined the Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department in 1985, where later his two sons joined him. He was a volunteer firefighter approximately 9 years in Rendon, 13 years in Iredell and 20-plus years in Lampasas.

Bill also was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years, with dual membership in Iredell and the Lampasas Saratoga Lodge. He had been a member of the Austin Scottish Rite since 1978 and the Ben Hur Shriners since 1984.

He is survived by his wife of 49-plus years, Janet Sanguinet; children Andy Sanguinet and wife Kelli, Jody Sanguinet and wife Audrey, and Vicki Tower; grandchildren Hunter Sanguinet, Colton Harrison, Cody Sanguinet, Brianna Sanguinet, Caitlyn Sanguinet, Emily Tower, Colbi Sanguinet, Aubrey Tower, John Ryleigh Lindner, Piper Lindner, Karlee Tower and Kallie Lindner; and a sister, Pamela Sanguinet, all of Lampasas.

Donations may be made to the Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
