Laurie Wycoff Smith, 58, died the morning of Dec. 22, 2021, at her home in Lometa.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1963 to Joel and Sally Wyckoff in Geneva, New York.
Laurie grew up in Lodi and graduated from South Seneca High School in Ovid, New York, in 1981. She went on to earn a degree in horticulture.
Laurie was married to James Michael Smith for over 30 years. They raised three children: Alene Erin Shick, Joel Berley Smith and Joshua Michael Smith.
Laurie had a strong passion for rescuing animals and worked as a volunteer. She also loved to travel, with a love for nature and new experiences.
No public service will be held for her.
Laurie’s ashes will be spread at Seneca Lake in the coming months, with her immediate family in attendance. Sneed Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.
Her family requested that those interested consider making a donation to a local no-kill animal shelter or to the Humane Society.
