Services set for former county judge Ed Lilley

Virgil Edgar “Ed” Lilley, who served two terms as Lampasas County judge, died Dec. 1, 2021 at his home. He was 82.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 4 at New Covenant Church in Lampasas, with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m.

Lilley will be interred at Oak Hill Cemetery in a private family burial service. Heritage Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

A member of the Lampasas High School Class of 1957, Lilley attended Tarleton Junior College and graduated from Texas A&M in 1961.

He entered the U.S. Army and served for 20 years, with tours of duty that included Korea, Texas, Germany, Michigan, Maryland and Vietnam.

Lilley and his wife, Sue, moved to Lampasas in 1981 after he retired from the Army Ordnance Corps with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

He was elected county judge in November 2002.

In addition to serving a term as president of the Lampasas County Farm Bureau, Lilley also was involved in various civic activities and held church leadership roles over the years.
