Karen Irvine Glasscock, 78, of Lampasas died Oct. 23, 2021.
She was born June 28, 1943 at Rollins Brook Hospital in Lampasas, the daughter of Robert and Ava (Brooks) Irvine of Rumley.
Karen was raised in Rumley, the second child of six children. She attended Sunday school and church at School Creek Baptist Church and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Lampasas.
Karen graduated from Lampasas High School in the class of 1961. She attended business school at Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton. From there, she attained a position with the Texas Comptroller's Office where she worked for more than 27 years before her retirement.
She married Billy Joe Glasscock on Nov. 1, 1969 at First Baptist Church in Lampasas. Bill and Karen were married for 32 years, making Austin their home, before he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2002.
Karen also was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Eileen Irvine, and nephew Kevin Mickan.
She is survived by her sister, Norma Raye Irvine of Lampasas; brother, Michael Irvine and wife Sara of Temple; brother, Charley Irvine and wife Debbie of Lampasas; sister, Charlene Mickan and husband Russell of Kempner; brother, Lynn Irvine of Lampasas; two nieces, three nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
While living in Austin, Karen attended Hillcrest Baptist Church for many years. Before moving back home to Lampasas in 2006, Karen transferred her church membership to First Baptist Church in Lampasas.
Karen enjoyed spending time with family and hosting family get-togethers. She also loved crocheting, needlework, sewing and quilting. She made hundreds of intricate Christmas ornaments, crocheted afghan blankets, made needlepoint pictures and pieced many beautiful quilts for her family.
Family members will remember Karen on Oct. 28 at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
