Mr. McDonald

Charles "Mac" Manning McDonald, 82, died July 12, 2021 at his residence in Lampasas.

Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. July 19 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas has charge of arrangements.

Charles was born Nov. 26, 1938 in Beaumont to Judson Paul "Buster" and Ila Mae McDonald.

He served his country first as a Marine in 1955 and then with the U.S. Army in 1957, where he retired with the rank of sergeant first class (E-7) in 1979. During his military time, he served as a mechanic in Korea, Vietnam and Germany.

After retiring from the Army, he was employed as a mechanic with civil service for 20-plus years before once again retiring.

Charles enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. He enjoyed his daily morning coffee and lunch with friends at Country Kitchen in Lampasas. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rena, and his brother, Alton Homer "Lucky" McDonald.

Survivors include his sons Glenn McDonald, Jeff McDonald, and Wesley McDonald, and wife Mary Ann; the mother of his children, Thelma; brother, James Paul "Jimmy" McDonald; 11 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

The family requested donations be made in Mr. McDonald's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
