Lowell Preston Lindsey, 78, died on May 26, 2021, at his residence after a battle with cancer. Visitation will be June

Visitation will be June 2 from 5-7 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held June 3 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Killeen, 13341 TX-195. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Killeen.

Preston was born Sept. 1, 1942 in Killeen to D.W. and Nina (Underwood) Lindsey. He attended schools in Florence and Marble Falls.

Preston worked in the oil industry for a number of years, and also worked in construction, metal roofing and house-leveling. He built houses from the ground up.

He loved reading his Bible, preaching, hunting, fishing, camping and a good game of 42, Skip-Bo and regular dominoes.

He became an ordained minister in July 1973 and became the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Lampasas in 1977. He left Lampasas a few times, but he always came back.

Preston served Calvary Baptist Church as pastor until his illness stopped him this year. He was the kind of person who would help anyone.

Preston married Dorothy Gaddy on Sept. 5, 2003 in Killeen, and they were married for 17 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Lorene Lindsey; son, Lowell Lindsey Jr; sister, Anna Joyce Lindsey; brothers Tom Lindsey, Pete Lindsey, Russell Cowan, Gene Cowan and Lyndel Lindsey; sisters-in-law Brenda Jackson and Kathy Lindsey; and four grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lindsey of Lampasas; sons Terry Day and wife Karen of Troy, and Rodrigo Garza of New Mexico; daughters Rachel Vega of Mart, Virginia Bunting and husband Shaun of Lampasas, and Kathy Welch of Lampasas; stepdaughter, Valorie Early and husband of Manville; stepson, James Maraquin of Houston; brother, Clyde Lindsey and wife Patsy of Elk City, Oklahoma; sisters Mary Hodge and husband Brad of Lometa, Drusilla Hunter and husband Dale of Killeen, and Dorothy Coppin of Belton; sister-in-law, Carol Lindsey of Arizona; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
