Officials cite pollutants, lack of resources as issues
In a notice issued Monday morning, Kempner Water Supply Corp. requested voluntary conservation due to “circumstances outside of our control.”
In an alert issued just before 10 a.m., KWSC officials notified customers of a situation affecting the water supply and quality.
“Due to circumstances outside of our control, we are not receiving our expected contractual water supply from Central Texas Water Supply Corporation,” officials said. “Additionally, recent flooding has introduced pollutants into our water sources, resulting in significant turbidity and making the water very challenging to treat.
“In light of these conditions, we are urging all customers to voluntarily conserve water until further notice. Your cooperation is crucial in helping us manage the current supply and avoid mandatory water restrictions,” KWSC officials said.
KWSC provided these suggested conservation measures:
-Limit outdoor watering to essential uses only
-Reduce the frequency of car washing and other non-essential water uses.
-Take shorter showers and avoid baths.
-Run dishwashers and washing machines only when full.
-Repair any leak promptly.
“We understand that these measures may cause inconvenience, but they are necessary to ensure a sustainable water supply for everyone in our community,” officials said. “Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
