Hornets drop district opener to tough Jonesboro team

Lometa opened district play with a loss over the weekend, a 74-49 defeat against the Jonesboro Eagles. The game was delayed after playing a quarter and a half on Friday, and it concluded in Priddy Saturday night.Despite forcing four turnovers, Lometa’s defense came up short in the long run.

Freshman, JV teams lose games to Stephenville

The Lampasas freshman and junior varsity football teams played host to Stephenville last Thursday. Although they competed well, both teams came up short in chasing a victory.The freshmen lost 35-14 in a game where they fell behind early on and couldn’t make up ground.

Middle school football results mixed against Burnet

The Lampasas Middle School football teams took on Burnet in games Oct. 16, and they went 2-2. Both eighth-grade teams picked up wins over Burnet, and both seventh-grade teams lost.The eighth-grade “A” team won 36-20 to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Yellowjackets sting Badgers, win weather-shortened game

Last Friday, the Badgers traveled to Stephenville for their final road district game of the season. They ran into a buzzsaw, losing to the Yellowjackets 49-7 in just over one half of football play.The game was moved to a 5:30 p.m. start time in an effort to beat incoming bad weather.

Badgers face toughest test of season with state-ranked Stephenville

This week, the Badger football team will travel to a brand-new venue for the opportunity to play one of the best opponents in the state – the Stephenville Yellowjackets.Lampasas heads into the game 7-1 overall, with a 1-1 record in district play.

Lady Badgers finish season with loss to Salado

Tuesday’s match with the Salado Eagles resulted in a hard-fought, three-set loss for Lampasas at 25-15, 25-18, 25-12.The Lady Badgers finished the season with one district win in their first match against Taylor, which was the program’s first district win since 2022.

Cross country runner advances to state meet

On Wednesday, the Lampasas boys’ cross country team, as well as Lady Badger senior runner Leah Phillips, competed in the regional cross country meet. One of the Badgers has qualified for the state race on Nov. 1.John Keyes placed 10th out of 176 runners with a time of 16:38 to qualify to advance.
