Baseball team picks up shutout win over Marble Falls

The Badger baseball team got back to its winning ways with a 6-0 shutout victory over Marble Falls on Tuesday.Jonas Andersen was on the mound for the Badgers. He pitched 5 1/3 innings of shutout ball with 12 strikeouts in his best district start of the season so far.

In a match where the Badgers weren’t expected to compete well, they went into the final five minutes of their bi-district playoff tied 1-1 with Life Waxahachie.

Tennis team plays in one more tournament before district

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Lampasas tennis team headed to Marble Falls for the district competition. Before that, they played in one more smaller tournament here at home.They competed against Brownwood, Gatesville and Copperas Cove, and each player for Lampasas had three matches.

Lampasas powerlifter finishes top 10 at state

Charles Mack lifted at the state powerlifting meet in Abilene last weekend, and he finished 10th in the 114-pound weight class.“He had a good meet, finishing with a 925-pound total which is his best total of the year,” coach David Brister said.

Two bad innings were more than the Lady Badgers could overcome against a talented Burnet team, as they lost 7-3 last Friday.The Lady Bulldogs opened the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Former Badger shines in weekend debut for Texas Longhorns

The name Ace Whitehead is known to most here in Lampasas for what he accomplished as a Badger on the football field, the baseball diamond and as a track athlete. Now in Austin playing for the Texas Longhorn baseball team, Whitehead had been waiting for his breakout moment.

Badgers finish third at golf tournament in Killeen

The Badger golf team played the Stonetree Golf Course in Killeen last Friday and Saturday, and placed third against some tough competition.They shot a total of 610 strokes -- just behind the top two finishers. Georgetown captured first, and Lake Belton finished in second place.

A three-run top of the seventh inning tied the game at 5-5 between Lampasas and Gateway, but a run by the Gators in the bottom half gave them the 6-5 win.JT Posten pitched well for Lampasas, giving up only five hits and striking out eight batters. Calvin Phelps was solid in relief as well.

Baseball team comes up short against Lago Vista
