City Council denies smoke shop, discusses water

The Lampasas City Council wasted no time Monday evening in denying the proposal for a potential smoke shop in town.The four council members present -- Dorothy Person, Edward Gold, Davis Keele and Mayor Herb Pearce -- voted unanimously to deny the proposal with prejudice.

Making hay while the sun shines

A farmer harvests hay in a field off U.S. Highway 190 on Monday. Sunny weather early in the week offered an ideal window for cutting and raking hay, which was lush from rains earlier this month. Parts of the county saw showers on Wednesday, continuing a relatively mild start to the summer.

The organization Save the Lampasas defended its segment of the Lampasas River valley in 20092010 against 345kV lines proposed by Oncor. Now, 765V lines with taller towers are proposed to run roughly from U.S. Highway 281 eastward to the Lampasas River valley area in Oakalla and then toward Briggs.

Kempner council hears requests on police, park funding
