Lampasas County 27th District Court has convened several times in July, with Judge Debbie Garrett presiding over the criminal hearings.

The following arrests were reported to the Lampasas Dispatch Record by area law enforcement officials. The Dispatch Record prints the name and charge(s) of people arrested on at least one Class B misdemeanor – or more serious – charge.

Hanna Springs Pool visitor deceased after drowning incident

An adult male Hanna Springs Pool visitor experienced “distress” in the water on Saturday afternoon before he was ultimately declared deceased, according to a city of Lampasas press release. The city has not released the name or age of the individual.A city press release says at 3:07 p.m.

Game warden aids with flood rescues

With over a decade of swift water rescue experience, Lampasas County Game Warden Ray Milloway said the flooding events he witnessed in Kerr County on July 4 were the most severe he has ever seen.

Sales taxes slip again for city of Lampasas

The city of Lampasas had a good first quarter in terms of sales tax revenues received, but rebates have slipped since then.The Texas Comptroller’s Office has released July allocations to the cities, counties and special-purpose districts that levy a local sales tax.

Lampasas ISD faces budget dilemmas for the coming years

Lampasas Independent School District Board of Trustees members brainstormed ways to tackle the district’s dwindling savings in a Friday meeting as LISD prepares for a near $2.4 million budget deficit next fiscal year.For the upcoming 2025-2026 fiscal year, the school district is planning $46.

Road over Sulphur Creek to close

Cars cross the Business 281 bridge over Sulphur Creek on Friday. The Texas Department of Transportation announced that starting this week, the intersection at Naruna Road and U.S. Highway 281 will be closed due to road construction. Additionally, Business 281 will be closed to through traffic.
