One-vehicle crash takes out Storm’s Drive-In marquee

A 62-year-old Kempnerarea resident sustained what authorities said were serious injuries in a onevehicle crash along the 200 block of North Key Avenue in the early-morning hours on Monday.According to Lampasas Police Department Patrol Lt. Chuck Montgomery, the incident occurred at 5:07 a.m.

High school graduation three weeks away

Commencement exercises for the Lampasas High School Class of 2026 will be held May 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Badger Stadium. Gates will open at 6 p.m. There is no reserved seating offered.In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the high school gym at 2716 South U.S. Highway 281.

Wettest April in years staves off drought

Over five inches of rain fell in Lampasas County during April for the first time in a decade, according to the National Centers for Environmental Information.The Lower Colorado River Authority Hydromet located 11 miles west-northwest of downtown Lampasas recorded 5.41 inches of rain from April 8-22.

The Texas Comptroller’s Office shows that sales tax payments to the city of Lampasas rose 14% in April, compared to the same period last year. That marks the highest one-month gain since February 2025, when the city also recorded a 14% increase.
