Screwworm detected in Texas calf

On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed the detection of a New World screwworm in a threeweek old bovine in Zavala County in South Texas.This marks the first case of the parasitic screwworm in Texas in more than half a century.

Mural nears completion

Vision Lampasas volunteers have painted their newest community mural on the side of the Kindred Spa building along U.S. Highway 281 South. The design features Sulphur Creek and a beautiful Hill Country sunset.

Classical music comes to Lampasas

The Artisan Chamber Players are set to perform Vivaldi’s well-known “Four Seasons” at a free concert Saturday at the historic Manuel Hardware building, 401 E. Third St. The concert is part of the Lampasas County Chamber Music Festival, now in its fifth year.

Landowners denied more time in 765-kV transmission line hearing

A panel of administrative law judges has denied a motion filed by area landowners seeking more time in the Public Utility Commission of Texas decision-making process for a proposed high-voltage transmission line sought by Oncor Electric Delivery Co.
