Celebrating the arts with youth

The LAFTA-sponsored Arts in the Park for Kids event took place Saturday, offering a variety of arts-related activities for youth such as this booth that utilized Play-Doh for expressive creations. The threat of inclement weather moved activities indoors at the former middle school cafeteria.

Bats to get new home at Kempner park

The Kempner City Council is on board with an Eagle Scout project to develop several bat boxes for placement inside Sylvia Tucker Memorial Park.

Honoring the civic service of Jerry Grayson

Lampasas City Council members are pictured with Linda Grayson, center, wife of the late Jerry Grayson who died March 28. Grayson served four years as mayor of Lampasas after having been a Lampasas City Council member from 1981-2002 and from 2007-2011.

CEMETERY ASSOCIATIONS

The Naruna Cemetery Association annual meeting for members and anyone who has family buried in the cemetery will take place May 3 at 2 p.m. at the Naruna Baptist Church fellowship hall.The association will elect a treasurer at the meeting. Lometa golfer headed to state tournament after placing second at regionals

David Carr poses with his silver medal after a stellar performance at the regional golf tournament this week. He finished second in the region and has earned his place at the state golf tournament. That event will be played on April 27-28 at Crystal Falls Golf Club in Leander.

Voting to begin for bond election

Voters in the Lampasas Independent School District may begin casting their ballots on Monday in the bond election. Three propositions totaling $139.63 million are proposed.Early voting takes place at the Elections Office, 407 S. Pecan St. in Lampasas.

American Legion post’s name change approved to honor Briggs, Wright

The National American Legion Headquarters has approved a charter name change for Lampasas American Legion Post 277.The public is invited to attend the renaming and dedication ceremony at the Lampasas County Courthouse April 22 at 6 p.m.
