Food drive to benefit Lampasas Mission

Lampasas County 4-H members will be collecting non-perishable food items as a one-day 4-H community service project. These items will be donated to Lampasas Mission.Residents who can donate should bring non-perishable food items to the Lampasas Public Library on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In odd-numbered years such as 2025, the November General Election includes for voter consideration any proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution that passed during the recently concluded legislative session.The 89th Texas Legislature has offered 17 constitutional amendments this year.

Courthouse work nears finish line

The finishing touches to wood trim were tackled at the Lampasas County Courthouse last week, when sanding and painting were done on the secondfloor windows. The renovation work is expected to be complete by mid-October, County Judge Randy Hoyer has said.

San Miguel becomes third candidate in county judge race

Jo Ann San Miguel, owner of San Miguel Law Office on the downtown square, is seeking the county judge’s seat in 2026.San Miguel will join Zac Morris and David Millican in the Republican Primary. The business owner and Lampasas native believes she has all the tools to succeed in the role.

Rat population plagues LMS campus

Lampasas ISD Chief Financial Officer Shane Jones said close to a dozen rats have been caught on the Lampasas Middle School campus over the last month.The district knew the middle school rat epidemic was an issue when one of the rodents reportedly snacked on a student’s homework.

Special service to honor pets

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church will offer a Blessing of the Animals on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. The tradition, inspired by St. Francis of Assisi’s love for creation, typically takes place around Oct. 4 and includes a blessing with holy water and a prayer.

Providence Christian Academy to hold fundraiser dinner

Providence Christian Academy Central Texas is preparing for its annual fundraiser, scheduled for Nov. 7 at 502 W. Business 190 in Copperas Cove.Doors open at 6 p.m. The event will include a barbecue dinner, dessert auction and silent auction. Dressy western wear is recommended.
