Lampasas and Lometa-area voters have choices to make at the polls. After the conclusion of early voting this week, 1,618 residents had participated in the Lampasas elections, and 42 had cast a ballot in the Lometa ISD election.

Commissioners Court says no to data centers, battery energy storage systems -- for now

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court agreed during Monday’s meeting to a resolution opposing the development of data centers and battery energy storage systems in the county.The resolution passed by a 4-1 vote.

After waiting more than two years for a kidney transplant, Lometa resident Michael Miller finally has his match.On Monday, Miller met his donor, Brandi Watkins, an AdventHealth Rollins Brook hospital employee and Lampasas resident.

Highway work begins between Lampasas, Lometa

The Texas Department of Transportation and its contractor Big Creek Construction have begun a $55 million widening project on U.S. Highway 183 North. The project will include construction of a four-lane divided roadway featuring a median and designated turn lanes.

Screwworm moves closer to Texas border

On April 20, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the New World screwworm had been found 62 miles south of Texas in the Mexican state of Nuevo León.The New World screwworm is a parasitic fly that lays eggs in the tissue of fresh wounds in warmblooded animals.
