PEC competes at International Lineman’s Rodeo

Pedernales Electric Cooperative lineworkers competed among the best in the world at the International Lineman’s Rodeo Oct. 15-18 in Overland Park, Kansas. More than 600 teams of lineworkers tested their skills in safety and power restoration at the competition.

Oct. 27 jury trial canceled

District Clerk Edith Harrison has announced that the jury trial originally scheduled for Oct. 27 has been canceled.Those who were called for jury duty on that date will not need to appear.

Cities maintain sales tax growth over 2024

Year-to-date sales tax collections continue to show cities in the county are making gains over 2024.Although growth in the tax rebates has slowed for the city of Lampasas, it maintains a 2% edge in cumulative receipts over what it took in last year through October. The 2025 total stands at $2.

Brush chipping program to begin in November

The city of Lampasas will begin its fall brush-chipping service in November. Brush placed at curbside will be picked up on the following schedule: Nov. 3-7, areas north of First Street and west of Key Avenue.Nov. 10-14, areas south of First Street and west of Key Avenue Nov.

The return of Badger Man

Hanna Springs Elementary hosted a pep rally Friday afternoon to celebrate student achievement at the end of the first nine weeks of the school term. Badger Man took center stage and helped hype up the crowd and lead the celebration. For more photos from the pep rally, see page 2.

Kempner to hire new city secretary

Kempner City Council members accepted City Secretary Hayleigh Talasek’s resignation in last Tuesday’s regular meeting.Council members approved a budget amendment, however, that will allow Talasek to remain with the city through the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

Morris opts not to run for county judge

After announcing his candidacy for Lampasas County judge in August, Zac Morris has decided he will not pursue the position at this time.The former Lampasas City Council member and owner of Morris Law P.C. on the courthouse square doesn’t believe now is the time to seek elected office.
