Almost half the cities in the surrounding counties saw their sales tax rebates drop this month when compared to June 2022 receipts.

Sales tax rebates trend downward in June

Local sales tax allocations for June have slowed, compared to the earlier months of 2023. Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced that payments to the cities, counties and special purpose districts that levy a local sales tax averaged just 2% more than in June 2022.

ERCOT is asking Texans to voluntarily reduce electricity use, if safe to do so, due to extreme temperatures and forecasted record demand. This Voluntary Conservation Notice is in effect Tuesday, June 20 from 4– 8 p.m.

Tree Care program available June 27 in Goldthwaite

Mills County AgriLife Extension Office is collaborating with the Texas Botanical Gardens in Goldthwaite to offer a Tree Care program. Featured speakers will be experts from the Texas Forest Service. The session will be held June 27 from 9 a.m.
