City hires police cadets

The Lampasas Police Department officially welcomed two new officers this month. In a ceremony on July 7, Lampasas cadets Delana Fritz and Christopher “Isaac” Alford graduated from Central Texas College Basic Police Academy in the Class of 2023 – Bravo. Lampasas Police Patrol Lt.

Excessive heat warning in effect

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for the Central Texas region, including Lampasas, Hamilton, Bell, Coryell and surrounding counties.  The warning was announced at 11:13 a.m. Tuesday and remains in effect until 8 p.m.

Attendance officer seeks to improve turnout

After a year as an assistant principal in Copperas Cove, Kyle Black is returning to the Lampasas school district, where he will serve as the new attendance officer and as one of Lampasas High School’s assistant principals.

The Lampasas Independent School District will hold prekindergarten through 12th-grade registration on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lampasas High School cafeteria, 2716 South U.S. Highway 281. Only students new to the district need to register.

Son accused in Kempner man's homicide

Lampasas County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a Kempner homicide, and the suspect in custody is the son of the deceased. Myer Nena, 61, died after sustaining injury in an alleged domestic violence incident on Friday.

KWSC rescinds boil water notice

Kempner Water Supply Corporation has rescinded a boil water notice on Friday morning.  Due to an 8-inch leak that occurred on Twin Mountain Road, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regulations required a boil water notice for all customers, KWSC officials said in a news release.

Parade entry winners named

The 52nd annual Spring Ho Grand Parade made its way through the downtown streets of Lampasas on Saturday, with the Mezger family serving as parade marshals for the 2023 gala. After judging of float entries, the Spring Ho Committee released the following as winning parade entrants.

Two former Badgers take tandem adult win at annual kayak races
