City sees sales tax drop in July

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar’s office has mailed sales tax rebates for July to the cities, counties and special-purpose districts that levy a local tax. Those payments were approximately 7% more than entities across the state received in July 2022.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the July 19 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 431, compared to 708 last sale and 688 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, stockers were $5-$10 higher; feeder steers and heifers steady to $3 higher.

Businessman, civic leader Andrew Irvin dies

Lampasas businessman Andrew Gordon Irvin died on July 19, 2023, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Round Rock. He was 56. Visitation was held July 22 at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas.

Lake levels in Texas plummet

The comment from Aaron Able, Brazos River Authority water services manager, was a grim one. “We’ve not seen Belton Lake levels this low essentially since the latter part of 1971,” Able said.

Lampasas ISD approves school marshal program

In a special called meeting Thursday morning, the Lampasas Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the implementation of a districtwide school marshal and guardian program.
