KWSC rescinds boil water notice

UPDATE: This morning (Aug. 2), the KWSC issued an alert to customers revealing the boil water notice was no longer in effect.  On Friday, the Kempner Water Supply Corp. issued a boil notice to all customers due to the leak in the transmission line off U.S. Highway 190.

Purple Heart honors sacrifices of American military service

Aug. 7 recalls an important date in U.S. Army history. In 1782, that day marked the creation of the Badge of Military Merit Award, now known as the Purple Heart. It was created by Continental Army Commander in Chief George Washington, who sought a means to encourage his soldiers.

Whispers from the past

Beneath a smattering of oaks and elms lies a small cemetery surrounded by the busyness of life. Some new Lampasas citizens have never noticed it, while those who have been here for generations have grown so used to it they never think of it.

City manager gives budget preview

During the Lampasas City Council workshop held July 24, City Manager Finley deGraffenried provided council members with an outlook on next year’s budget. The 2023-24 fiscal year budget sits at $33,051,941, a decrease of about $1 million from the year before.

Water leak repaired

A water leak in the concrete transmission line along U.S. Highway 190 that nearly caused a citywide water outage for Lampasas was repaired early Saturday morning. Lampasas City Manager Finley deGrannenried said few Lampasas residents lost water due to successful conservation efforts.
