Hill family reunion planned in Jonesboro

The Albert and Florence White Hill family reunion will be held Saturday at the Jonesboro Community Center. Doors should be open by 10 a.m. Brisket, chicken and tea will be provided. Those who attend should bring a favorite side dish and dessert.

Old flyswatters and mental clutter

As I walked over to the microwave in the breakroom at the Dispatch Record office, I noticed something I'd never seen before: a homemadelooking fly swatter crafted out of an old handle and a bent-up window screen. I laughed when I saw it!

Browning Garden Club to hold Meet and Greet event

Those interested in learning more about growing plants in Central Texas or who simply want to meet new friends are invited to consider joining Browning Community Garden Club. The garden club will hold its annual Meet and Greet event on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Lil Tex Restaurant, 502 S. Main St.

Arrest made in child sexual assault case

A Lampasas man was arrested Aug. 3 on felony child sexual assault charges. Lampasas police arrested Michael Joseph Smith, 37, on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact, first-degree and seconddegree charges, respectively.

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings.
