KWSC nears completion of new intake at Stillhouse Hollow

Kempner Water Supply Corp.’s new water intake at its Stillhouse Hollow Lake reservoir is set to be completed this week after taking longer than expected.
The project that started Aug. 14 initially was expected to last three days.

Sales tax revenues for the city of Lampasas were down for the third consecutive month, compared to the June, July and August numbers put up in 2022. Those declines have been relatively small in terms of percentage drops, however.

First-day enrollment numbers for the 202324 school year have increased slightly at each Lampasas ISD campus, except for Taylor Creek Elementary School.
A total of 3,485 students were enrolled in the school district on Aug. 10, the first day of classes. That represents a 1.

The Lampasas High School Class of 2003 will celebrate its 20-year reunion on Sept. 9 at Campfire Bar & Grill (formerly Camp Caylor) in Copperas Cove. Hours are 7-10 p.m.
Outdoor games, a live band and dancing will be offered.

The Lampasas County Higher Education Center has struggled to find staff for its phlebotomy and Patient Care Technician courses, Director Derrick Barrios said this week.
Currently, LCHEC is offering only its Clinical Medical Assistant and Nurse Aide courses.

Cattle and calves: Total cattle 416, compared to 511 last sale and 574 at this time last year.
Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were $5-$7 higher. Slaughter cows were steady to $3 lower, and slaughter bulls were steady.
