Community Gardens hosting fall festival event

Lampasas Community Gardens will host a 2023 “Fall Y’all Festival” fundraiser later this month. The event will be held Sept. 30 from 4-7 p.m. at the Community Gardens. There will be family fun, line dancing, a silent auction, food and more activities planned for the event.

LISD sees slight enrollment gain over first month

Lampasas Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Chane Rascoe provided board members with enrollment numbers during Monday’s Board of Trustees meeting. Board members had little action to take after approving the 2023-24 fiscal-year budget on Aug. 28.

Band celebrates school’s Homecoming

The Lampasas High School Badger Band participated in the last week’s Homecoming Parade to provide musical accompaniment and encourage school spirit. The marching band and football team played in Pflugerville this week.

Balloting begins for annual Best of the Best contest

The Lampasas Dispatch Record’s popular Best of the Best Reader’s Choice contest kicks off this week. A ballot appears on page 7 of today’s edition. This marks the eighth year the newspaper has offered balloting to recognize readers’ favorite people and business services in Lampasas County.

Council approves new tax rate, budget

Lampasas City Council members voted Monday to establish the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 tax rate and approve the annual budget. In a unanimous vote, the council approved the first reading of an ordinance to establish the FY 20232024 tax rate as $0.

Attempted theft isolates burglary suspect

Lampasas Police Department has isolated a suspect in a theft attempt at The Trading Post who also may be responsible for last week’s Merk & Tilley burglary. LPD Sgt. Investigator Tim Ryan said on Sept. 3 at about 2:30 p.m.
