Small-engine course thrives in first year at LMS

Lampasas Middle School students are exploring the automotive world for the first time this school year. Twenty-four eighth-grade students across two class periods are learning the basics of small engines.

Those grieving after the death of a loved one are invited to participate in GriefShare, a weekly support group. GriefShare will meet for 13 weeks, from Jan. 23 to April 23 from 5:307:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 402 S. Key Ave., in the fellowship hall’s Heritage Hall classroom.

LCSO investigates shooting death

Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 57-year-old man after his stepson reportedly shot him in a domestic dispute. LCSO deputies responded to the 2100 block of County Road 3790 to a report of a shooting on Thursday afternoon at 1:34 p.m.

J Hancock Park Municipal Golf Course provided a blank canvas for snowfall on Monday. Golfers usually want low scores at the course, not low temperatures.

Hydroponics program planned for Feb. 10 at Kempner farm

Yield Here Farms will sponsor an “Intro to Hydroponics” program Feb. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2662 Snow Rd. in Kempner. Participants will learn about hands-on, do-it-yourself systems, maintenance and nutrients, and commercial systems. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included.
