The second performance of Music at the Museum is scheduled for Saturday. This week’s featured performers are Cody Kersh, who grew up in Lometa, and local favorite Bobby Starr, with his special guest Kate Walker. The music starts at 1 p.m. at the Lampasas County Museum.

City considers baseball field upgrades

The Lampasas City Council met Monday to swear in three returning council members and discuss improvements to local baseball fields.

House fire claims life of Kempner man

A Saturday home fire claimed the life of a Kempner resident. Kempner police identified the victim of the Saturday afternoon fire as Alex Gandy, a senior citizen. Gandy died at a San Antonio hospital after sustaining serious burns in a fire at his residence at 216 Peach St.

Fourth lottery fraud suspect arrested

The fourth and final suspect in a Lampasas lottery fraud case has been arrested.Lorena Anne Hamilton, 43, of Kempner, was arrested on charges of claiming a lottery prize by fraud, between $200 and $10,000, and engaging in organized criminal activity.

Lometa names new police chief

Llano native William Koch has been sworn in as the new Lometa police chief. He said he is eager to bring the city’s police department up to speed.Koch is a U.S. Army veteran and former state investigator who brings nearly 30 years of experience as a police officer to Lometa.

With a major flooding event in the rear-view mirror for Lampasas County, first responders are catching their breath this week and considering the safety of the public after the Cinco de Mayo flash flood.
