Deputy hospitalized after exposure to unknown chemical

A Lampasas County sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized after coming into contact with a foreign substance during a routine traffic stop early Friday morning.Lampasas County Sheriff Jess Ramos said his office is awaiting test results to identify the chemical that initially was believed to be fentanyl.

Sales tax growth seen in June

For most cities in the Central Texas area, June was a much better month for sales tax rebates than May had been. Only San Saba recorded a decline in revenues compared to June 2023, and the gains posted by other entities pushed their year-to-date numbers higher for the first half of 2024.
