Celebrating 60 years together

Jimmy and Dorothy Summerville will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this week. They were married in Lampasas on July 3, 1964. Children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a celebration for the couple June 28 to mark the special event.

An abundance of summer blossoms

Crepe myrtle trees are visible all across the city, with their vibrant blossoms in pink, purple, red and white varieties. The plants flourish in full sun, and they add gorgeous color to the summertime landscape.

Council clarifies grass height rule in Kempner

Kempner Mayor John Wilkerson apologized to council members last week for having misread the city’s ordinances on weed length.In the council’s previous meeting June 11, members discussed changing the maximum weed height of 48 inches. But it turns out that was not the true regulation.

Summertime fun at the library

Eve’s Cafe set to reopen this week with new owners

When Lampasas Beer Market owners Dalton and Ana Harbin heard rumblings in February about Eve’s Café closing down, the pair knew they needed to act.

Construction blocks high school entry

Continued work along U.S. Highway 281 South has shut off access to Lampasas High School at the campus entrance. Motorists must use an alternate entrance at Grace Fellowship to reach the high school facilities.

KWSC boil water notice rescinded

As of 10:30 a.m. Monday morning, the Kempner Water Supply Corporation has rescinded a boil water notice today after the company took corrective actions to restore the water quality.
