Appraisal district OKs 2025 budget

The Lampasas Central Appraisal District Board of Directors approved its 2025 budget of $890,471 during Thursday’s regular meeting.The budget represents about a $40,000 increase from last year’s plan. Most of the increase is dedicated to the hiring of an additional appraiser for the office.

A Central Texas Entrepreneurial Summit will take place July 23 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Jack Calvert Municipal Building, 302 E. Third St. in Lampasas. This is a free event.A panel of entrepreneurs will offer their start-up stories at one session.

Former county commissioner Wayne Faught laid to rest

Former county commissioner Wayne Faught died on July 10, 2024, in Lampasas. He was 90.Graveside services were held at Nix Cemetery on July 14. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel had charge of arrangements.Faught was born on Oct. 20, 1933 in Nix to Floyd and Ethel (Wright) Faught.

TxDOT announces temporary closure of Naruna Road near golf course

In a public announcement made Tuesday, the Texas Department of Transportation said a section of Naruna Road near the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 will be closed temporarily, beginning July 15, as construction progresses on the highway.

Kempner City Council members spent most of their Tuesday meeting once again discussing different budget ideas for the upcoming 2024-25 fiscal year.
