4-H KICKOFF MEETINGLampasas County 4-H will hold its kickoff meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Lampasas County Show Barn, 283 North U.S. Highway 183. The various youth projects available this year will be discussed, and interested members can ask questions.

School board approves tax rate, new budget

The Lampasas Independent School District Board of Trustees approved its 2024-2025 fiscal year budget and tax rate during an Aug. 26 board meeting.Prior to approval, a public hearing was held over the proposed budget and tax rate, however no citizens were present to offer any comments on concerns.

Indian artifacts to be featured once again

Customers and vendors interact at last year’s Indian Artifact & Mineral and Gem Show. Hosted by Vision Lampasas, the show has become an annual event and draws a sizable crowd. Also included in the admission fee is a tour of Merritt Romans’ extensive rock and mineral collection.

Indian Artifact Show coming Sept. 28

Lampasas residents will have the chance next month to see historic arrowheads and more on display at the Indian Artifact & Mineral and Gem Show.The annual event sponsored by Vision Lampasas will take place at the old Lampasas Middle School cafeteria, 107 N.Main St., on Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the hearings.Defendant John Anthony Carvajal of San Antonio entered a plea of true to a charge of sexual assault and was given 10 years’ deferred adjudication probation.
