The LTX BBQ Fest took place last weekend at the580 Sports Complex in Lampasas, in conjunction with the Riata Roundup Rodeo.Approximately 90% of the barbecue teams that came to compete were from out of town.

Lometa School to have five-day week in March, April 2026

Scheduling, training and a new academic calendar were the main focus of the Lometa Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting on April 22.Trustees approved multiple projects to improve areas around the new track and both football fields at the school campus.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court had two criminal dockets last week. Judge Debbie Garrett presided over the April 24 and April 25 hearings.Action on April 24 included: A motion to suppress hearing for Jimmy Lee Sluder of Copperas Cove. The motion was overruled.

ARRESTS

GRAND JURY

Lampasas County grand jury convened April 9 as part of the January 2025 term.Sgt. Gary Marquis of the Attorney General Child Exploitation Division brought information that resulted in the indictment of Ray Martin Uvalle on a charge of possession of child pornography on Dec. 17, 2024.
