Black powder competition held in San Saba County

Cheryl Ayers of Williamson County took home the first-place trophy at the Black Powder Turkey Shoot, hosted May 3 by the Sons of Confederate Veterans Saltworks Camp No. 2353 of Lampasas.

Rollins Brook to set up exhibit at hospital

After the Lampasas County Museum had a successful run with its special exhibit “Rollins Brook Hospital: Celebrating 90 Years,” museum foundation member Carol Wright visited with Ashley Underwood, vice president/administrator at AdventHealth Rollins Brook.

City eyes more recreation opportunities in Lampasas

Lampasas residents can expect a boost in recreational activities soon. The city is accepting applications for a full-time recreation specialist.City Manager Erin Corbell said this is a new position approved under the 2024-25 fiscal-year budget.

The next American Red Cross Community Blood Drive will take place May 13-14 at the First Street Church of Christ Family Life Center, 201 W. First St. in Lampasas. Donation hours are 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. both days.The May blood drive is in memory of Robert “Michael” Aaron Sr., who died in January.

Lampasas River water quality training session set for May 19

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board will host a Texas Watershed Steward workshop on the Lampasas River watershed May 19 in Oakalla.The free event will be held at the Oakalla Community Center, 29011 Farm-to-Market Road 963, from 1-5 p.m.
