Sales tax receipts up for some but down in Kempner

The city of Lampasas rebounded from a poor sales tax showing in April to post a gain in May.May allocations are based on sales made in March for businesses that report tax monthly to the state comptroller, and sales made in January, February and March by quarterly filers.

County could be on verge of receiving state funds to cover disabled veterans tax exemption

County Judge Randy Hoyer and Precinct 1 Commissioner Bobby Carroll testified in Austin in support of House Bill 2894 at Wednesday’s Senate Committee on Finance hearing. The bill would allow the county to garner reimbursements from the state due to the 100% disabled veterans tax exemption.

Lometa after-school program in doubt for next year

Superintendent Rob Moore told the Lometa Independent School District Board of Trustees Thursday night at its regular meeting that it will be difficult to continue an after-school program due to a loss in grant funding.

LCHEC director provides update to commissioners

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court agreed Monday to consider bumping up its yearly donation to the Lampasas County Higher Education Center by $1,500 to help the school pursue new course offerings.
