County Farm Bureau convention on ag issues draws good crowd

The annual Lampasas County Farm Bureau Convention was held recently with more than 180 members in attendance. Ribeye steaks were prepared by Jeff Rutland and a Farm Bureau crew of cooks. Texas Farm Bureau staff from Waco gave input on the upcoming constitutional amendment propositions on the Nov.

Here is a list of upcoming Trick-or-Treat and fall festival events in and near Lampasas. Saturday, Oct. 19 Lampasas Methodist Church will host a Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The festival will include free carnival games, a bouncy house, a rock wall and face painting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Students donate to help teachers fight cancer

Taylor Creek Elementary School staff, students and parents raised $3,441 through the sale of “In this Family No One Fights Alone” T-shirts. The donations will go to campus teachers Denise Mays and Tammy Sheard to help in their battles against cancer.

Kline Whitis campus raises funds for memorial scholarships

Throughout the month of September, Kline Whitis Elementary School students worked to raise money for the Peyton Jones Memorial Scholarship and Michael January Memorial Scholarship. Their total reached $3,916.81.

Church to celebrate 128th homecoming service

The Pearl Church of Christ will celebrate its 128th Homecoming church service Sunday at 10:30 a.m. A catered barbecue dinner on the grounds will follow the service. The church is located at 6790 FM 183 in Pearl. Families who attend will receive a Pearl Church of Christ 2023 directory.

Strikes for Scholarships set for Oct. 22

Central Texas College Foundation will hold a bowling tournament fundraiser on Oct. 22 at Putters & Gutters Fun Center, 2341 U.S. Highway 281 in Lampasas. Registration is at 8:30 a.m., with the tournament to start at 9 a.m.

Lampasas County VFW Post receives national recognition

For the first time, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8539 in Lampasas County has received national recognition for its community service. Post 8539 was awarded the 2022-2023 National Outstanding Community Service Award.
