Feb. 12 is next play date for Community Bridge

The Community Bridge group met Jan. 8 for six progressions of bridge. Five tables played, with Tom Griese taking home first place. Barbara Mullican was second, and Nancy Golden was third. Barbara Mullican and Pat Thomas shared the highest round prize, and Sue Whitted was low for the day.

Winery takes double gold medals at San Francisco competition

Texas Legato winery is continuing its legacy of producing award-winning wines. The winery recently won a double gold medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the largest wine competition in North America with judges from all over the world.

LHS and LMS students gear up for One-Act Play season

Lampasas theater students at the middle school and high school levels are preparing for the upcoming UIL competition season in One-Act Play. Lampasas Middle School theater students will host one public performance this Friday before their competition on Saturday.

Young Life ministry looks to raise funds for youth to attend summer camp

Lampasas County Young Life is hosting a pork chop dinner fundraiser Feb. 5 from 4-6 p.m. at New Covenant Church. The drive-through dinner is $10 per plate. Young Life adult leader Cody Leach said all proceeds will go toward travel expenses for the group’s summer camp.

Works of Mercy Thrift Shop expands to new location

Lometa Shared Blessings–Works of Mercy Thrift Shop has expanded its ministry to a new, bigger location, and the founders said they hope the coming year will be a banner one. After 11 years of operation, the resale-based ministry has moved into a new location.

Kempner business recognized as ‘night sky friendly’

The new Family Dollar & Dollar Tree in Kempner have been selected as a Night Sky Friendly Business by the Lampasas County Friends of the Night Sky. Family Dollar & Dollar Tree opened in October as a midpoint shopping spot for area residents, according to store manager Krystal Waters.

Two Badgers named to all-state band

Junior Madi Giffin and sophomore Alexander Thorne are the first Lampasas High School Badger Band members to achieve All-State honors since 2019. The pair qualified at area competitions held at Robinson High School on Jan. 6.

Entrepreneurial Summit Jan. 30

Lampasas will host the 2024 Central Texas Entrepreneurial Summit on Jan. 30. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Jack Calvert Building, 302 E. Third St.
