Lometa UIL Academics saw numerous students qualifying for different contests at the state meet in 2025.That list includes recent graduate Cora Groves, who finished her UIL career by competing in the Headline Writing competition.

SCV to meet June 3 in Lampasas

The Sons of Confederate Veterans Saltworks Camp No. 2353 will hold its next meeting on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Campbell Park Pavilion in Lampasas.A meal featuring barbecue brisket and red beans will be provided.

Lometa Academic and Speech teams see success at state

State championships were the theme for the past week for Lometa ISD, with students bringing home hardware in both UIL Poetry and UIL Current Events.Both contests were historical for the school albeit in different ways.

L-M Garden Club names scholarship winners, new officers

The L-M Garden and Civic Club of Lometa met May 19 for its last meeting of the 2024-2025 club year. The meal was Mexican-themed with enchiladas made by Maria D Garza, along with sides made by other club members. Meetings will resume in September after the summer break.

Bridge players win prizes, donate to Senior Center

Community Bridge players met on May 12 for their monthly session of card playing.Beth Griess came in first, Linda Williams was second, and Lou Wiginton placed third. Kathy Griffis-Bailey and Barbara Mullican took home the high-round prize, and no one won the slam prize.
