Runner leads 50K effort to ease neighbors’ suffering

A local running enthusiast has pledged to run 50 kilometers on Dec. 24 to raise money for a family displaced by a November house fire. Steve Barlet, a member of the Lampasas Run Club, will run at W.M. Brook Park in a self-starter event he’s calling the Suffer Creek 50K Charity Drive.

Kempner to host its Christmas in the Park tonight

The city of Kempner will host its second annual 'Christmas in the Park' tonight at the Sylvia Tucker Memorial Park. An ornament decorating contest will start at 5:15 p.m., with the theme “Branches of Military.” A tree-lighting ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Local restaurant named among top 30 German eateries

Yelp blog writer Samantha Visone has authored a post on “The top 30 German eateries worth traveling to this winter.”  Coming in at No. 20 on the list is Eve’s Café in Lampasas. It is the only German restaurant in Texas to make the top 30 listing.

Lometa Hometown Holidays set for Dec. 17

Santa is heading back to Lometa this holiday season, when the city of Lometa hosts its annual Hometown Holidays. This year’s event will take place Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Lometa’s fire station, located next to City Hall.

Clinic collects toy donations

Dr. Craig Benton of Benton Chiropractic Clinic recently offered his 23rd annual toy drive to benefit the Lampasas Fire Department. On Nov. 29, he swapped a chiropractic adjustment for a toy donation.
