The La Vernia Bears defeated Lampasas 51-50 in overtime in Friday's non-district varsity football game.

The Badgers posted a 24-0 lead near the middle of the second quarter. The Bears closed the gap to 24-14 at halftime. The score at the end of regulation was 44-44.

The Lometa Hornets (1-3) topped the Mullin Bulldogs (1-3) in varsity football Thursday night at Mullin. Lometa coach D.T. Torres said his team turned the tide in the second quarter after Mullin got on the scoreboard first. Lometa came away with several interception returns for touchdowns.
