Lampasas fall sports are set to begin practices next week, as August is just around the corner. Starting Aug.

The Lometa FFA Junior Rodeo took place Friday and Saturday night. Participants in the four age groups for those ages 19 and under were able to enter 12 events ranging from goat tying to barrel racing.

Superintendent Rob Moore announced to the Lometa Independent School District Board of Trustees on July 19 that a girls’ volleyball team, a new sport for Lometa, had been accepted officially into UIL District 15-A for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Justin Schulze has won yet another tournament at Hancock Park Golf Course. He and his golf partner Abbie Smith won last weekend’s Britches and Bows tournament by one shot over Clint and Kayla Frost.

The second tennis camp of the summer is set to get underway next week. Students all the way from first grade to ninth grade will be able to work and learn the game of tennis at the high school courts from July 25-28.

The Badgers will host a football camp at Lampasas High School for seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders from Monday through Thursday. The camp will run from 8-10 a.m.

The annual Spring Ho Toughest 10K took place last Saturday, and approximately 400 runners registered for the event. The Hancock Park pavilion served as the starting point for the races.
