Texans set to run in annual Spring Ho race

The Toughest 10K in Texas, 5K and 1-mile run are just around the corner, and competitors from around the state are expected to show up to race in the July 9 event. The race is hosted by the Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce and is held in conjunction with the annual Spring Ho Festival.

Score below 60 wins two-man scramble tournament

The duo of Shane Cazas and Dalton Parsons took home first place in the Keller Williams two-person scramble tournament Saturday at Hancock Park Golf Course. The team shot 58 in their 18-hole round, and that was good enough to beat out the 23 other teams competing.

Badgers dominate in summer league games

The Badger basketball team played two summer league games on Tuesday, and they came out on top in both. The boys had only six players available, but they beat Lometa in game one 96-27, and they beat Marble Falls in game two 38-20.

I was out checking livestock water troughs the other day when I spotted a newborn fawn right by the ranch road. It did not even raise its head as I watched it for a moment. The camouflage spotted pattern was almost perfect, except the fawn lay on a patch of green which made it visible to me.

Several Badger baseball players receive all-district honors

Tak Stinnett was named the District 6-4A Pitcher of the Year, and other Badgers also received all-district recognition. Jonas Andersen and Rawlin Smith were named first-team all-district, while Nate Borchardt, Dax Brookreson and Aden Rascoe were named to the second team.

Boys’ and girls’ summer basketball officially underway

The Lady Badgers and Badgers are officially competing in their monthlong summer basketball league at Lampasas High School. The girls began competition on Monday against Hamilton and Lago Vista, while the boys started on Tuesday with games against San Saba and Burnet The Badgers beat San Saba 50-32, and they beat Burnet 64-38.
