Great seasons cut short, the story of 2020

Most local athletic teams had a promising start to their seasons, but the coronavirus quarantine stopped spring sports in their tracks. Others, like the Badger football and Lady Badger basketball teams, saw great seasons end with a tough draw early in the playoffs.

Basketball teams aim to carry momentum into 2021

Softball player selected for multi-state 16U team

LHS freshman and Texas Blaze softball player Aspen Wheeler was selected for the Region 5 South Texas team after tryouts earlier this month for the USA Softball High Performance Program. This team is compromised of eighteen 16U girls from Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. She will play in Melissa, Texas, this weekend. Lady Badgers rule Royals, 65-16

The executive director of the UIL was in Lampasas on Monday to introduce LHS head girls’ basketball coach Mark Myers just after Myers’ 900 th career victory. Lampasas (12-2) dominated the Austin Royals homeschool team 65-16 after taking a 19-1 lead in the first quarter.

Badgers bury Armadillos for ninth straight win

The Badgers had their lowest foul count and fewest turnovers in a game this season as they beat 2A San Saba 81-39 on the road Monday. Lampasas is 10-1 at the Christmas break, with a home game scheduled Dec.

Curtis Thrift finished with the best record (20-9) on the Dispatch Record football playoff prediction panel, which ran through the 4A title games last week. The Richland Springs- Balmorhea 1A Div. II title game has been postponed due to COVID-19 cases in Balmorhea. The teams have until Jan. 16 to reschedule.
