Update: The Lady Badgers will play Brownwood on Monday at 6 p.m. in San Saba to decide the fourth and final playoff qualifier from the district. * * * On Senior Night, Lady Badger seniors Taylor Allen and Addison McDonald made some of the biggest baskets of their careers to keep the Lady Badgers' playoff hopes alive. Lampasas upset No. 5 Glen Rose 46-45 in overtime Tuesday, as McDonald made the gamewinning three-pointer.

Badgers fall 60-57 but clinch playoffs

Glen Rose protected the ball and limited fouls, helping the 19thranked Tigers beat Lampasas 60-57 on Tuesday. The Badgers still qualified for the playoffs though, as Gatesville was eliminated with a loss to Stephenville.

Freshmen cruise to district title

Lampasas finished a perfect season (20-0) in ninth-grade girls’ basketball, hammering Glen Rose 49-7 on Tuesday. Jenna Ball made five three-pointers, and Glen Rose did not score a field goal the whole first half.

Five football players sign with Texas teams

Five Badger seniors signed letters of intent on Wednesday to play football at the collegiate level. Guard John Long committed to Rice University, defensive end Owen Seaver to Angelo State University, receiver Mike Murray Jr.

Girls’ soccer wins in 180-degree turn from Friday

On Tuesday, the Lampasas varsity girls’ soccer team beat Jarrell by the same margin (9-0) as the Lady Badgers lost to Lake Belton on Friday. LHS coach Kiff Wiemers said it was a great showing with everybody getting involved in the action.

Several JV tennis players place at Gatesville

Hannah Durbin and Allison Valdez won their second tournament in doubles at the Gatesville JV tournament on Tuesday. The Lady Badger duo went 3-0 on the day, and “they are getting better each week,” coach Kenneth Peiser said.

Former Badgers gear up for college baseball

Garrett Witcher and the Illinois State University Redbirds will play their first regularseason series on Feb. 19 in Nashville against Belmont. Witcher is a 2017 Lampasas High School graduate. He has played summer league ball in New Hampshire, and played previously for Cisco College and Southeast Community College in Nebraska. Softball scrimmages ahead

The Lady Badger varsity softball team will compete in a triscrimmage on Saturday in Llano. On Tuesday, they are scheduled to play at Waco University, with the JV taking the field for a 5 p.m. start, followed by the varsity at 6:30 p.m.
