Boys’ golf team competes at regional preview

The Lampasas boys’ golf team shot 349-350 in Lubbock at the regional preview, finishing 12 th out of 18 teams. Individual scores were: Aiden Wiley 85-77 Jaxon Tomme 87-82 Peyton Spore 85-93 Coulson Plouff 92-98 Declan Davenport 101-107.

Baseball team earns first win despite setbacks

Ace Whitehead threw 14 strikeouts over six innings in a 7-2 Badger win over the Round Rock-based Texans Homeschool team in Salado. That win was the highlight of the tournament, while the Badgers also dropped three games.

Badgers beat Steers to earn match-up with No. 3 Argyle

Lampasas saw a nine-point lead slide into a six-point deficit, before the team came back in the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s bi-district championship game to take the win. The Badgers (19-4) beat the Graham Steers 77-68 for their first bi-district title in three years and the seventh one in coach Aaron Nuckles’ career.

LHS wins fourth straight in district soccer

The Badgers came from behind to beat Burnet 3-2 in varsity boys' soccer on Monday and dominated the Lake Belton Broncos on Tuesday. Burnet scored first on Monday, but Lampasas tied the game at 1-1 after Keshawn McElwain earned a free kick.

Lometa blasts Blum with huge fourth quarter

Lometa shot 16 of 19 from the free-throw line and 9 of 10 in the fourth quarter to put away Blum in the boys’ basketball area championship. The Hornets won 57-43. On Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Brownwood High School, they will face Huckabay in the regional quarterfinals. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. The cost is $5 per adult and $3 per student.

Club wrestlers qualify for state

More than a dozen wrestlers from the Hill Country Wildcats Wrestling Club qualified for the state tournament, which will be Feb. 27-28 at the Round Rock Sports Center.
