JV track opens season at Brownwood

The Lampasas junior varsity track teams opened the season on Monday at Brownwood, and the varsity will compete on Friday at the same site. Lampasas was not able to place in the top three as a team but medaled in many individual events.

No. 1 Slidell ends historic Hornet season

In JV tennis at Brownwood, Allison Valdez and Hannah Durbin won their third tournament in a row in girls’ doubles. “They are playing great,” coach Kenneth Peiser said after Tuesday’s tournament.

Argyle’s giant size gets the best of Badgers

Argyle’s starting five stood an average of 6’4”, about 4 1/2” taller than the Badgers, and that was a crucial difference in the Eagles’ 65-45 victory. The third-ranked Eagles improved to 27-1.

Girls’ basketball all-district team announced

Several Lady Badgers made the all-district girls’ basketball team. Selections were announced after Glen Rose, the final District 6-4A team remaining in the playoffs, was eliminated by Canyon in the regional semifinals.

Case Brister was named first-team all-state on the Texas Sports Writers’ Association 4A football team. Brister and several teammates earlier earned all-state honors from Carl Padilla and David Smoak’s smoaky.com.

Woods, Badgers crush Cougars

Lampasas shut out Jarrell 3-0 on the Cougars’ home turf after the Cougars had beaten the Badgers in the first round of district soccer. Cody Woods scored all three goals for Lampasas on Friday.
