For the fourth time in six district games, the Badgers found themselves in a one-run game in the final inning. Hayden Waldrip’s first varsity career homer, a three-run blast to left field, cut Gatesville’s lead to 8-7, which was the final score in the Badgers’ district loss.

Lampasas medaled in several divisions, competing in the Killeen tennis tournament against 12 other schools on Thursday. “All players had three matches today and plenty of tennis on a sunny gorgeous day,” coach Kenneth Peiser said.

The wrestling district meeting to determine seeding was held on Monday after press time, and the district tournament will be Thursday at College Station High School. In Lampasas’ last predistrict tournament on Saturday, Brianna Miller went 4-0.

LeeAnn Parker placed first individually (shooting 73), and the LHS Girls’ Blue Team dominated Monday’s opening round of the district golf tournament in Glen Rose. After the first round on a hilly Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose, round two will be April 5 at Gatesville Country Club.

The Lometa varsity boys’ and girls’ track teams competed Tuesday at the District 17-A meet, hosted by Rochelle High School. Cherokee won both varsity divisions.
